Overview
This website was created in conjunction with the junior year America at War project at Da Vinci Charter Academy in Davis, California. The students who created this website also interviewed a World War II veteran for the Library of Congress's Veteran's History Project and read Joseph Heller's, Catch 22. By completing these tasks, the students sought to answer the four driving questions of the project in order to develop their own opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of war.
To develop our responses, we did research about each of the four questions. Our website has been divided into four separate sections, each focused on answering a different one of the driving questions. Under each tab, you can find the following:
Driving Questions:
How does war impact the individual?
-World War 2 Veteran Interview with Don Knudson
-Primary source annotations
How does war impact society?
-War timeline
-US Foreign Policy Overview
What is the cost of war?
-War song analysis: Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by The Andrews Sisters
-War song analysis: Praise the Lord & Pass the Ammunition by Kay Kyser
Can war, with all of its destruction be beneficial?
-Catch 22 by Joseph Heller: Summary and Movie Pilot
